Sorry for your loss, jack was one of a kind. I just wish I could have got one more trip to California to see you again. Jack was a good guy.

Jack was a special person who had a knack for creating memories.  He embraced life and loved to have a good time.  Seamus says that his most favorite vacation was going to California to see Aunt Debbie and Uncle Jack.  He loved going to Disneyland, experiencing Medieval Times and eating blue ice cream with Uncle Jack!  Meghan and Caitlin will always have their beautiful jewelry boxes as enduring reminders, knowing the love and attention that went into creating these works of art.  Paul and I will remember Jack most fondly for how happy he made Debbie. They truly had a wonderful life together!  Jack will be sorely missed.

Jack was my best friend of 45 years.  He and I were introduced in Columbus by Marv (Hogbody) Romine in 1967.  Jack and I were instant friends and shared much of our life together.  We enjoyed race cars, restoration, friendships, joking around and going on excursions with our buddies.  Jack was a once-in-a-lifetime relationship and developed into a friendship that endured until his death.  We enjoyed each others company and did much together while he lived in Ohio.  He eventually moved to my home town of Zanesville, Ohio and lived in my home with our family.  He was seen by my children as their second father and they both loved him and learned a great deal about life through his teachings.  When he moved to California we kept in touch and saw each other whenever we could and I made several trips to California to stay with Jack and Debbie.  Before Jack met Debbie my kids traveled to California to stay with him and play in tennis tournaments.  They both tell wonderful stories of their experiences.  Jack told me that I was an idiot, but that I had played a part in raising two of the greatest kids in the world!  I never wanted this day to come, but the ending of life is inevitable.  He told me that he had a "full life, but it was ending shorter than I wanted it to be."  His sense of humor and badgering of me continued until his passing.  He constantly harangued me about being a cheapskate as he always wanted me to buy a new Corvette.  I never did, and this was a source of friendly combat between us.  I loved Jack and he loved me.  He will be sorely missed each and every day of my life.  I love you Buddy - see ya later!

Not to sound cliche' but words can't express what Jack is and has meant to me throughout my life. He is without question, the single biggest influence in my life outside of my parents. He guided me through my formidable years with blazing insight, candor and profoundness all while cracking that smile that said "I know things you have yet to discover." He prepared me for aspects of my life in ways that seemed and came so effortless to him. I hadn't seen Jack personally since 2005 in Palm Springs and yet I always felt (& still currently feel) that he is close by, a part of me. Like the Phoenix, may Jack rise in all of us and live on. I am a blessed soul for being graced and influenced by such an extraordinary man of integrity, wit, & humor; an extraordinary soul of enormous personality.

I've known Jack since before birth as he was my father's very best friend.  I have so many fond memories of Jack and will miss him dearly.  I lend my sense of humor to the fact that Jack had a hand in raising me and my brother; we were very lucky kids to have Jack in our lives.  I spent many hours on the tennis court with Jack hustling me along, teaching me how to compete.  I will always love Jack as a 2nd father and am thankful for the time I spent with him.

Uncle Jack, 
Where to begin. I am so thankful for the past few years we have been able to spend together since moving to California. We made some great memories together. There is so much that I will miss. So much reminds me of you.  I'll miss our weekend visits and our chats. I will cheer on the Buckeyes and think of you. I will make bloody Mary's and think of you. I will look at our grape lights, our last weekend project together, and think of you. The only thing that helps right now is all of the great memories we made. I am so grateful for them all. I am so glad little Frank was able to be your faithful companion, especially while you were sick. He did such a good job taking care of you, even til the very end. Now he will watch over aunt Debbie and protect and comfort her. I miss you and love you so much. Rest easy and eat all of the ice cream you can. I hear Heaven has an unlimited supply.

Jack,
It was my pleasure to have gotten to know you these past few years.  You and Debbie welcomed me into the family as if I were one of your own.  I can never express my sincere gratitude for the escape that you and Debbie were able to provide Katharine and I, you being aware of that fact or not.  You guys provided a home far away from home and I will forever remember that.  

I know you will be watching over us, and god willing, watching over a little Jack in the future if it is to be:)

To my big brother, Jack Pine Trees, I love you and will miss you always.  I wrote this to share with everyone at your memorial service, but most of all for your loving wife, Debbie, and hope it brings a smile to her face because that is what you did for all of us.

He taught me a lot

Then he moved to the west
  and I lost my best friend,
But he needed more sunshine

Because there he met Debbie
  the love of his life,
And after years together
  he made her his wife.

And great memories were made
  when we traveled their way,
To the land of fruits and nuts
  Jack always would say.

Opinionated and stubborn
  we love you just the same,
I guess it's hereditary
  cuz Trees is our name.

When I found out you were ill
  my heart broke in two,
How could we go on
  without you?

I know God has a plan
  He sent Kate your way,
And with her came Frank
  who is by your side to stay.

And then we got news
  a baby to be,
Whose name will be Jack
  if it is a he.

To say we will miss you

For living without you

To Jack's family and Debbie: it is difficult to find the right words to soothe the sorrow you are feeling after this undeniable great loss.  I didn't know Jack that well but I will always remember that he has been a gentleman to me while playing tennis doubles at Sweaptaway.  He stood by me once when a player was being unfair. He was kind with a great sense of humor!  If good men and good hearts pass away, they live for ever in our memories.  God bless you all!

Jack, Jack, Jack.....your infectious smile will be missed!  Debbie, I will be praying for your comfort and strength during these days of remembering your loved one.

We will miss you dearly Jack.  You had such a great, positive influence on Austin and Nolan. They enjoyed the time you spent with them over the summer teaching and sharing your love of tennis and your humorous outlook on life.  We will always remember you for your great smile, warm personality and generous heart.  Our deepest sympathies go out to Debbie and the Trees Family.  God bless you Jack.

My condolences to the family and Jacks faithful companion, Frank.  I do not know Jack, I just stumbled upon this guest book and read the obituary notice and thought it was wonderful. Jack seems like a man that was so full of life and loved to live it. god bless

It is through tennis that Morey and I met Jack and Debbie.We had many friendly matches and shared so many great moments as friends. We will remember Jack with fondness and plan on spending many more fun times with Debbie as we remember together. With Love, Emmanuelle and Morey Reynolds

Not a day goes by where I do not think of one of those Jack-isms.  To this day I cannot look at a phone and not hear Jack telling me "What You Ain't Got A Phone?!!!"  It was always a complete moment when Jack was around. Kim and I wish to let you know how much mean to us.

My younger brother was born into a peaceful small town in northern Ohio and died peacefully in southern California. In between, he had 70 years of life in good health. Although it is hard to let go, there is much to be thankful for in such a gift of living. His last project, to build a "Jack in the Box" for his ashes (and dog Frank's), shows his never-ending sense of humor and that living rested lightly on his shoulders, even at the end of it. A gift to us all.

To the forest of Pines, Jack obviously stood tall and straight.  He brought much joy to all the lives he touched.  I served on the USS Muliphen with Jack, as his shipmate I wish him "fair winds and full sails" on his journey. Jack Trees was the loyal, fun loving friend that we all cherish.  He and I became friends while we were serving on the USS Muliphen in the 1961-1964 time frame.  I'm proud to say that friendship continued until this day.  Fair winds and a following sea,my fiend.  Those that didn't know Jack can read a description of him in First Corr.  Chapter 13  verses 4-8.
