
Jerome Oldrich Stedry was born September 8, 1948, and passed away January 20, 2021. He is survived by his brother, Steve Stedry and his wife Barbara; and his niece, Allison & her husband Grynick. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Pavel [Paul] - July 5, 1996; and his mother, Vivian - August 29, 2003.
Jerry's father Paul lived with his parents in Czechoslovakia until 1939. At which time, Grandfather Stedry realized these were dangerous times, and sent their 17 year old son, Paul, to the US. Upon his college graduation, Paul served in the military in Europe. He was among the military detail to interview Czech concentration camp survivors at the end of WWII. Jerry's grandparents perished in one of those Czech camps around 1943.
Jerry was educated at the John Tracey Clinic California School for the Deaf in Riverside, California, and later at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.
Jerry was an active church member and served in several churches during his life, including at the Rockford, Illinois Deaf Church as an intern and at the Calvary Deaf Church for over 40 years as a Board Member, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Men's Ministry and the Choir.
He retired after a career in the California Highway Patrol office in Temecula, CA.
