November 30, 1949 – June 3, 2025
With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved, Margarita Petra Sanchez, affectionately known to many as Katie. Born on November 30, 1949, and peacefully called home on June 3, 2025, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
Katie was the epitome of warmth and grace—a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and truly the sweetest soul anyone could have the pleasure of meeting. She had a way of making everyone feel special and deeply cared for, always welcoming others with her loving smile and heartfelt “How are you doing?” the moment they walked through her door.
She had a joyful spirit and an infectious love for singing, dancing, and cooking—bringing comfort and joy to her family through her soulful voice, her moves, and her home-cooked meals. A faithful Christian woman, she walked closely with the Lord and never ceased to pray for her family and loved ones. Her compassionate heart was truly a gift to all who knew her.
Katie was also a lifelong learner, proving that it’s never too late to grow. She attended college in her adult years, achieving outstanding grades and finding particular joy in studying History. Her passion for learning was matched only by her love of movies—all genres, from heartfelt dramas to thrilling mysteries.
One of her most cherished memories—one she delighted in sharing with her children and grandchildren—was the time she danced with Ted Kennedy in her youth. Her storytelling lit up the room, and her laughter was the soundtrack to so many precious family moments.
In recent years, she embraced the digital world with the help of her great-granddaughter EllieRae, learning how to shop on Temu and Amazon. Thanks to the two of them, the house was soon filled with packages, each one would bring a little spark of joy.
Katie’s legacy lives on in the lives of the family she loved so fiercely, the prayers she whispered faithfully, and the countless ways she made life sweeter for everyone around her. To know her was to be blessed. And though our hearts ache with her passing, we find peace in knowing she is dancing joyfully in Heaven, embraced by eternal love.
She will be forever missed and forever remembered.
