Kuya Lem was a constant presence in our family get-togethers 💗 Will always think fondly of him and looking forward to the next time we will all get to see him again 🥹 Jesus Christ is Coming and Kuya Lem will rise up to Him calling! 🥰  

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJV

[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. [15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Kuya Lem would let me hang out with him 🥰 at Nicolas get-togethers, Orchard Ave, etc. — even online he’d invite me to play chess with him 😅 i’ll miss being able to run up to him at the next family get-together 💔 but i am thankful for the times that i’ve got to spend with him. Love you, fam! Thank you for sharing your memories with us all 💐 Kuya Lem was a great cousin & a good person.

It’s hard to say goodbye to you Uncle Lem - it’s hard  to believe you’re really gone. That we won’t see you at the next family get together. We got to celebrate & honor your memory this weekend. Thank you for bringing us together one last time. ❤️ 3.3-3.4.22

My strong, militant, straight shooter Uncle. 

At grandma & grandpas Orchard house Uncle Lem hung chocolates on the Christmas tree one year. The good kind - Ferrero Rocher.  My cousins & I would sneakily grab one & as soon as we’d hear his voice or hear him coming out of his room we’d swallow quickly, wipe our mouths, & hide the wrapper.  We enjoyed so  much of that ferrero rocher that we started moving some of the chocolates from the back of the Christmas tree to the front, hoping the replacement could disguise what we had consumed. BUT, soon enough Uncle Lem  caught onto the missing chocolates. Someone must’ve left the gold wrappings drawing Uncle Lem’s keen eye to the evidence of his stolen chocolate. 

The last time I saw Uncle Lem was at Dad’s memorial. His last words to my sister & I were, “Shelly, if you guys need anything. Anything at all Just let me know. If i have it, I’ll give it to you.” I believed him. Because That was Uncle Lem’s heart & my cousins & I can all testify that his pattern of living was one full of helping the family. He was not a taker. He was a giver. 

Thank you Uncle Lem for all of those ferrero rocher chocolates. I took some, a lot- & so did your other kids. Thank you for bringing my cousins back to America. Thank you for being a good brother to my Dad.  I will never forget how the care & love you showed him. Thank you Uncle Lem for  loving the family as generously & sacrificially as you did. You were as John 15:13 says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” 

We will not forget your life.  Jordan got to meet you. I promise Christian & Gianna will hear of you.

It was always a good time at Uncle lems! He was the core of getting the family together. His philosophy and drive was to keep the family afloat and bonded. We will Miss you!

I am the younger sister of Lemuel’s dad, and had the privilege of taking care of Lemuel as well as his brothers and sister.

In my eyes, Lemuel was the cutest of all six siblings. He was very cute, but also the most kulit! With just a look in their direction, the Herming Nicolas, Sr. children would behave. 

When Lemuel’s mom, Ate Nita, would come home after a long travel from a hard day’s work, we would prepare her dinner and everybody would give their mom a hug. Then, all the children would work on their school assignment. Well, all but one. Lemuel liked to sit at the table with his mom and eat with her, because he enjoyed spending time with her.

Growing up, Lemuel was the sweetest boy. He would make sure that his mom is well cared-for; providing for her needs and assuring that she  always had the best of care…even up to the end of his life. 

The last encounter I had with Lemuel was back in the fall. He did not feel well, but he went out of his way to cook for me.  He welcomed me to his home, and accompanied me around town. He made sure that I rode in his beautiful truck.

Then, I heard that Lemuel’s condition worsened. I offered to visit; but due to pandemic restrictions, all I could do was send fervent prayers to our Heavenly Father. 

Little did I know that my encounter last fall with Lemuel would be the last encounter. I cherish the time I had with him. He respected me to the very end of his life. He spoke of his plans, asked for advice, and was a good listener. He actually took my counsel to heart, particularly his life’s plan in caring for their property in the Phillippines. He had done so well in his life, and I am so very proud of his accomplishments and grateful for his thoughtfulness towards family.

God Bless you, Ate Nita and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When Jesus Comes again, we will have a grand reunion!

I will never forget your happy go lucky personality.  It hurts deep that you have rested early but you've suffered enough in this earthly world.  I will never forget how people would underestimate your baseline shot when we played basketball 🏀 together.  I can't wait to see you again on that glorious morning!  You will be a reminder to all of us to reevaluate our relationship with Christ!  Love, Mike

Uncle Lem was my inspiration for me to join the U.S Army. Thank you uncle for being such a great inspiration for letting me know that failure is not an option. I love you uncle LEM wished that you would have seen me graduate from Army Basic Training.
