Machelle Renee Durant

Machelle Renee Durant was born August 9, 1966 in Ontario, California; the daughter of Leonard and Helen (Miller) Norman. She worked several different jobs and drove semi with her husband, Daniel. Machelle married John Freet and they had two children, Melissa and Kyle. They later divorced. She then married Daniel Durant who helped her find love and happiness. They loved traveling, cooking and decorating their home for every holiday. They shared 17 wonderful years of marriage until he passed in 2018.

Machelle’s greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She absolutely loved being a Nana. Although being far away, she was very much a part of their lives. She was our biggest fan and huge support in everything we did in life. She would even watch kids cartoons to have something to talk to her grandkids about. Machelle had a way of making everyone feel special and like they were the most important person in the world. She loved Christmas with all of her grandchildren and loved to spoil them all. Machelle never let anyone go without a meal or a place to stay, which gave her many friends and “adopted kids” along the way. She enjoyed taking trips and going to events. Some of her favorites were going to Iowa to visit her grandbabies, going to the fair with Becky and going to WWE shows with Kyle to yell at the wrestlers. She enjoyed scrapbooking, shopping, making snow globes, traveling and going to the ocean to watch them open the oysters and collecting the pearls.

Machelle passed away on Monday, September 28 at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel and two brothers: Leonard and John Norman. Machelle is survived by two sons: Kyle Freet of Grand Terrace, California and Michael Howard of Wisconsin; three daughters: Melissa (Christopher) Pullen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kristi Coleman of Washington and Becky (Heath) Koons of Riverside, California and five grandchildren: Kaiden and Conner Pullen, Elizabeth and Jonathan Daniels and Destiny Koons.
