

Mary Elizabeth Mills was born on November 1, 1927 in Toledo, OH, to Bessie A. Mills (Black) and Walter Copeland. Mary was baptized in her Christian faith at age 13, attended Gunckel Elementary school as a child, and finished her education as a License Practical Nurse. She attended Christian Community Church in Toledo for many years making sure her children received the spiritual foundation they needed. She moved to California in 1978 and attended New Providence Church in West Covina, CA until she moved to Riverside, CA where she attended Harvest Christian Fellowship.
She was employed at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, OH for 29 years until full retirement. She spent many years of her life as an Eastern Star offering her services to many charities. She enjoyed sharing and teaching the word of God, faith, and love to her family and friends, while loving life and living it to the fullest. She loved to sing and dance and loved all kinds of music.
She fell asleep in the arms of our Lord and returned to her heavenly home on April 27, 2013. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Copeland,
husband Eddie Hodge, and child Roland Curtis. She is survived by her mother Bessie A. Black, brother Eugene Copeland, first cousin Catherine Perry, son Jerry Allen Rogers; four daughters, Sharon L. King, Eddie J. Barber, Rhonda L. Rodgers, and Diana L. Rogers; Eleven grandchildren, Tameka Ponce, Romona Haynes, James Jackson Jr., Shari Tucker, Dorion Mills, Nuniee’ Scott, Jasmin King, Damion Rogers, Vernetta Rogers, Jerry Rogers Jr., and Zaria Rogers; two God granddaughters, eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
