Patrick Miller Robertson passed away surrounded by the love of his family at his home on May 31, 2020. He was 81 years old. Born in Riverside, CA on May 23, 1939, just minutes before his twin sister Judith, to Herbert “Red” Miller Robertson and Barbara “Sam” (Samson) Robertson, he was a second generation life-long resident of Riverside, CA.
Patrick loved his home town and was well known to many in his community. After graduating from Poly High School in 1957, he took college courses at RCC and began working with his father at HM Robertson Pipeline, which later became HM Robertson & Son. He joined the Operating Engineers Local 12 in 1963 and loved his work every day until his retirement in 2002. He was one of the best heavy equipment operators in the nation, laying pipeline in cities throughout Southern California and Arizona with Yeager and Granite construction companies. He often said he could “pick your pocket” with his backhoe. Pat also loved classic cars and motorcycles. He spent many hours well into the night in his garage building his prized dune buggies from the tires up. Everyone who knew and loved him knows that Pat was the most charming and fun-loving guy who loved the ladies. He was also the most stubborn “S.O.B.” in town. His Fargo Road neighbors will miss his smile and wave from his front porch bench. His smiling face will be missed at Sires as well.
His joy in life were his two children, Bradley and Jennifer. During their childhood, he shared his love for camping, water skiing, dirt bikes, dune buggies, and fun. They loved to spend time at the Colorado River, in San Felipe, and at Painted Canyon. He enjoyed taking them to Riverside Raceway, Speedway, and drag races. As adults, he enjoyed spending time with them every chance he had, and continued to go on camping trips to Mammoth with his grand daughters, Cheyenne and Olivia.
In his later years, he loved traveling around the United States with Bonny with his fifth wheel and Harley Davidson in tow. He loved taking pictures of their adventures and sunsets. They spent wonderful times camping in Ventura along the beach and near the Salton Sea at the Fountain of Youth. His favorite trips included Yosemite, Zion, and Sturgis. Bonny continued to love and care for Pat to the end.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Judy. He is survived by his son, Bradley Miller Robertson, daughter Jennifer (Louie) Villalpando, granddaughters Cheyenne & Olivia Villalpando, and his long time love, Bonny O’Brien.
Patrick will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Riverside, CA on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00am He will join generations of Robertsons and will enjoy a lovely resting place, partly because of the work that he did with the Friends of Evergreen to restore the beauty of the cemetery. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge from 11:00am-2:00pm. Just like Pat, the services will be casual and we would like to invite his friends to show up with their classic cars, Harleys, and great stories to joyously celebrate a life well lived.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Maria and the rest of the nursing staff at Vitas Hospice for their help and care for Pat.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AchesonandGraham.com for the Robertson family.
