In Loving Memory of Rafael Cardenas (1967–2025) Our beloved Rafael Cardenas passed on May 25, 2025, at age 57. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, tio, and friend. Rafael was born in Michoacán, Mexico, to parents Don Rafael and Doña Maria, who instilled in him the values of hard work, family, and orgullo. He carried those principles throughout his life, passing them on to his children with gentleness, strength, and unwavering love. Rafael was the high school sweetheart and soulmate of his wife, Maricela. Over their 35 beautiful years together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dancing in the kitchen. Together, they raised three amazing children — Carissa, Rafael, and Elissa — who were the pride and joy of his life. He was our protector, our biggest fan, and our home. To know Rafael was to know laughter, kindness, and resilience. He was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, who showed up when it mattered most, and who loved with his whole heart. Rafael is survived by his loving wife, Maricela; their three children, Carissa, Rafael, and Elissa; his parents, Don Rafael and Doña Maria; his sister Maricela; and his brothers Juan, Martin, Fernando, and Ricardo. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind, in the cherished memories, and in the endless love he poured into every moment. We’ll miss him every day, but we will honor him by living with the same kind of love, laughter, and loyalty he showed us. Te extrañaremos por siempre, descansa en paz, Rafael.
