Sisters

Dear Retta,

I miss you more and more each day. We were always there for each other, through the good times and the not so good times, too.  That’s what sisters do.

When it was just the three of us against the world mom…I was so proud you were my mom. You were always the prettiest…I miss you so much!

Dearest Big Sister,  it’s football season and I want to ask you who your quarterback is this year, what team are you following?  I will miss your smile and joyful laugh. I will miss spending the holidays with you and Gill. I will reflect on the great memories we made through the years. Rest in peace and know all the joy and happiness you brought to so many!

I have so many fond, happy and special childhood memories with my Aunt Rets. Rets loved horses. As a child, Aunt Rets taught me how she cared for them and showed me how to ride.  These carefree memories will always stay with me. 

Also growing up, we had the most incredibly fun Thanksgiving and Christmas family get-togethers with all of the Blevins.  Playing volleyball and basketball, watching football on big screens. Aunt Rets and Uncle Gil were always there together,  always so kind and projecting lighthearted joy.  

As you transition to your next chapter, Aunt Rets, know we all love you and are thinking about you. We will always hold our memories forever. 

Aunt Rets, so many memories … birthdays, thanksgiving, Christmas and on and on. Spending the summers with Doug when we were kids messing around in the back yard and looking for frogs and playing Super Nintendo, those are core memories. We miss you and know that you are at peace. Your nephew Case

My Grandma was very close to her grand kids. When I was younger she would let me try on her outfits, and she loved when I modeled them for her. I will never forget when I lost her wedding ring in their backyard. She was so understanding, I forgot to put it back before I went outside to play. She didn't even yell at me. She always believed that I was extremely sorry.  I prayed that it would be found. Eventually before they were ready to move Pamsis was mowing the yard after years of fearing he might not find it if he did. Out the corner of his eye the flash from the sun reflecting rhe diamonds caught his eye. It had landed just right outside the backyard gate! My grandma never doubted me or my word, not once. That's why I was so blessed to have her growing up...who knows how I would have survived without her. I love you Grandpa, I never had to worry about Gramsie because you were the best husband any woman could wish they had. That's why I am so thankful for the time and care you gave my brother and I, even though you had three daughters of your own you always treated us equally as loved. Thank you, please know Gramsie is suffering no more, may she rest in peace amen.

My dear cousin Retta was a tad bit older than me, and seemed sooo  sophisticated! She was lively and full of fun.  At our Blevins family reunions in Arkansas, we all slept together on the floor, sweltering in the heat, slapping mosquitoes, and laughing over craziness of it all. We had wonderful times hiking up SugarLoaf Mountain in Heber Springs and catching fireflies in little jars on the hillside at Aunt Alice's house. Retta was a very special joy to be around, and I was lucky to know her. Love you, Retta! Mary Lou

Retta was my friend for over  65 years. We had many fun times together. We both liked to dance a little when we were younger.  We also shared another memory we had a double wedding in Las Vegas.  Farewell  my friend , see you soon.   Wendy Gonzalez.

Retts,  you will always be remembered by our family,  for all your love and laughter.    Jenni first horse ride was in your lap.   Thank you for being such a good big sister, friend and aunt to jenni and Matt.  You will be so missed, but you will always be remembered.   We love you

With loving remembrances of Retta and her family, of Rett's parents (Hillary and Rosalie), her children (Ellis and Rebecca), and of June and Kenny.  But also of Pedley, Corona and Riverside, of the horses, the piano, the Xmas parties, the many other get-togethers, and much more.  But my special thoughts go out to you, Gilbert, the many times we met, the interactions we had, and the games we played (football, basketball, volley, …), often with Kenny, Case and sometimes with Ellis or others.  I will never, ever forget!!
 


We wanted to send our condolences to all the family and to let you know that you are in our thoughts here in London.
We have very fond memories of the special Thanksgiving Day in 2003 that we shared with you all in Riverside (which we very much think of as our home from home) at the end of our trip.  You all made us feel as if we were part of the family and we remember much laughter, singing and far too much food - rather like a British Christmas Day.
Gilbert, this is such a sad and difficult time for you and the family but you and Retta are very fondly remembered and we hope that you will get some comfort from the love of all your family and friends.
