June 17, 1933 – January 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Richard William Francisco, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on Friday, January 10, 2025 at the age of 91.
Born on June 17, 1933, in Piney Fork, Ohio, Richard was the cherished son of Gino Francisco, who immigrated from Italy, and Natalie Camille Zambon, who was born and raised in Ohio. He grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work and family values, traits instilled by his loving parents and carried with him throughout his life.
In 1954, Richard married his high school sweetheart, Mary Agnes Cichon, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span over seven decades. The couple welcomed their first child in 1955, followed by two more children, creating a family that became the center of his world. His devotion to Mary and their children was a testament to his steadfast love and commitment.
In 1967, Richard and his family made the bold move to Anaheim, California, seeking new opportunities. He began a career with UPS, dedicating 26 years to the company with unwavering commitment and pride. Known for his friendly demeanor, dependability, and tireless work ethic, he was respected and admired by colleagues and customers alike.
After retiring from UPS in 1993, Richard embraced a well-deserved chapter of relaxation and adventure, settling him and Mary in Las Vegas, Nevada. True to his hard working spirit, he couldn’t sit idle for long and decided to return to work—this time for fun—at Whiskey Pete’s Casino. There, he delighted in meeting new people and staying active, all while bringing his signature warmth and humor to every interaction.
At the age of 81, Richard finally fully retired, deciding it was time to give himself a well deserved break. In 2018, He and Mary returned to California, this time to the city of Corona, to be closer to their beloved family.
Richard was a man of great character—gentle yet strong, thoughtful yet humorous. His greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Mary, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He leaves behind three children who adored him, six grandchildren who were his greatest joy, and three great-grandchildren who brought light to his later years.
He also shared a special bond with his loyal canine, Daisy, whose presence brought him comfort and warmth.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his endless stories filled with wisdom and laughter, and his ability to make everyone he met feel special. He taught us all the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the beauty of a life well-lived.
Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find solace in the countless memories we shared. His legacy lives on in the love he gave and the lives he touched.
