Rosalva Alarcon Ruiz Armenta was born in Badiraguato Sinaloa, Mexico. Daughter of, Tiburcia & Pablo Alarcon Ruiz, sister to Evaristo, Rosario, Moises, Armida and Rebecca. Rosalva met Jose Armenta Ortiz as a young girl and quickly fell madly in love with him. At the age of 19 she left Mexico for a new life in the United States, with her beloved Jose.
Rosalva and Jose panted roots in northern California where they were agricultural workers to support their growing family. First born was Maria Arlene better known as ‘Linda’ in 1947. Soon after Linda was born came Victor, and Ramon, sadly however they both died one of polio and the other of poor health. Rosalva never spoke about the two lost children. With great joy, Jose was born healthily in 1955, followed by Leticia in ’57, Gilbert in ’59, and the youngest Carlos in ’62. Jose and Rosalva raised their family of 7 in Los Angeles. She proved herself a hardworking woman wherever she was an employee, and many times worked overtime working to support her whole family whenever her beloved Jose was injured and out of work. To their great joy, Jose and Rosalva welcomed their first grandchild, Alex Trillo in ’70. Fourteen years later, in the summer of 1984 marked the year that the first Armenta grandson was born, Caesar. Three years later grandma Rosalva was blessed almost every year with a grandchild; starting with Megan in ’88, Elizabeth in’89, Ian in ’90, Joseph in ’91, Gilbert in ’92, and Lauren in ’93, and the family tree was full with baby Jacqueline in 1997.
Rosalva, Jose and Leticia moved to a quiet Ontario neighborhood in 1999. On December 18, 2002 her beloved Jose passed away. Once this happened, Rosalva’s heart was broken, and her health slowly started deteriorating in the years that followed. In her last years she was cared for gingerly as she once cared for all her babies and grandbabies by her biggest angel, Carmen Armenta. Carmen took care of all her needs for seven years. “On that day, January 6th, I like to imagine that her beloved Jose came for her like he did with they were young, and like when they were younger she left without warning with her beloved, this time to heaven, for all eternity.”
