her twin sister, Rose. She was one of nine children born to Everett and Peach Ligtenberg.
This was a blended family but, there were no differences. She enjoyed growing up in the
country and living the farm life in Chino, CA.
Ruth graduated from Ontario Christian High School in 1963. She had a passion for being
a hair-dresser which lead her to graduate from cosmetology school. She married Rudy
Haringa in 1970. She continued doing hair for family and friends even after retiring to
raise a family. Ruth also loved planting flowers, spending time with family, books, crafts,
going for rides, hymns around the piano, baking with her children and grandchildren, the
beach, the mountains, and was known for her kindness, generosity, chicken and broccoli
casserole and love of country.
She loved Jesus and when her kids and grandchildren were little she would play Sunday
school songs and sing with them. Before her illness, she was involved in many church
activities; bible studies, vacation bible school, World Home Bible League, and helping
out wherever needed.
Ruth entered peacefully into eternal life on October 10 after a long courageous battle with
cancer.
She will be missed greatly by her children, Heidi (Steve) Laidlaw, Edward (Lenora)
Haringa, Rudy U. Haringa Jr., Jodi Haringa; her grand-blessings Lauryn, Collin, Ashlyn,

She is survived by her siblings Mary (Ron-in glory) Burbaker, Victor (Nancy)
Ligtenberg, Roger (Joanne) Ligenberg, Rose Schripsema, Everett (Sue) Ligtenberg, Jane
De Jong, and Pearl (David) Burns, sister in law Wietske Ligtenberg and many nieces,
nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She looked forward to and now joins in glory her parents, Everett and Peach Ligtenberg,
