Sonja Wipf (Gurli Sonja VanSchie Wipf), 86, passed away peacefully in Redlands at Brasswell’s Colonial care facility. She is survived by her four grandchildren Candace Johannessen, Diana (Rocky) Rakow, Kim Crawford, Michael Bennett, daughter-in-law Janis Johanessen and 5 great grandchildren. Sonja was the youngest of 4 brothers and sisters born in Denmark. Sonja and her first husband Oluf came to the United States in the mid 50’s with their two children Susanne and Johnny. As United States citizens the family worked and thrived living the American dream. The family settled in Long Beach, CA. where she worked her way up at Crocker Bank to become supervisor of her department. In 1977 she purchased a vacation home in Crestline, and soon after made Crestline her home. Sonja continued her career selling real estate in the Crestline area and meeting many wonderful people. Her profound love for her pets and food will be greatly missed. A service wIll be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillside Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA.
