May 23, 1949 – May 5, 2025
On May 5, 2025, our beloved Popie, Papa, Dad, husband, and friend, Steven Curtis Good, took his final breath at the age of 75.
Born in Kingsburg, California on May 23, 1949, to Donald Steven Good and Grace Arlene (Easterly) Good, Steve moved with his family to Long Beach in 1952. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1967 and married the love of his life, Pam Crawford, in 1972, shortly after returning from deployment.
Steve proudly served in the United States Air Force, including a tour of duty in Thailand. After returning home, he joined the Long Beach Fire Department, dedicating over 31 years of service as a Firefighter/Paramedic. In 1978, Steve and Pam moved to Rialto, California. Known among colleagues as “Steve Good,” alongside his partner in crime, “Steve Bad” (Williams), they commuted from Rialto and Rancho Cucamonga throughout his career. He served the City of Long Beach with distinction, spending time at Station #3, Station #10, Station #11, and retiring from Station #19.
In retirement, Steve fully embraced life. He enjoyed road trips on his Harley-Davidson with fellow firemen, enthusiastically supported his grandchildren at school events, theater performances, and sporting competitions, and was always eager to lend a hand. He could often be found selling concessions or ushering at theater performances, particularly during school field trips. Wherever his kids and grandkids were, Steve was there — cheering, helping, and loving every moment.
A passionate baseball fan, Steve cherished annual trips to Spring Training to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers with his kids and grandkids. He was a dedicated supporter of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes as a Booster Club member, aiding young up and coming baseball players like Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, Kyle Garlick, and Josiah Gray. He helped move players in and out of their apartments, served on the Booster Club board, and prepared snack bags for away games.
Above all, Steve loved watching his only grandson, Liam, play baseball. He traveled near and far for games, shuttled teammates, and always had snacks ready for the team. He was deeply loved by all who met him and remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Good and his brother-in-law, Kevin Crawford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pam Good; his son Matthew Good and daughter-in-law Karen; granddaughter Haley and grandson Liam; his daughter Alison and son-in-law Scott; granddaughters Emma and Clara; his sister-in-law Karen; niece Rachel and nephew Brad, and their children Raymond, Ella, and Luke; his sister-in-law Victoria; nieces Sarah and Renee, their spouses David and Hawk, and their children Leo, Alice, and Cordelia; his youngest brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Jenni; nephews Jason, Chris, and Aaron, their spouses Mary, Vanessa, and Amber, and their children Gabby, Cooper, Georgia, Reese, Jase, Kaelynn, Aiden, and Jenna.
Steve’s legacy of love, service, and friendship lives on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
