Susie Elaine Chase

Honoring and Celebrating the life of our mom Susie Elaine Chase “love you bunches” a beacon of love, faith, and resilience, passed away on June 17, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 75. Born on December 30, 1948, in East Los Angeles, California, Susie’s life was a testament to the power of faith and family.

Susie grew up in East Los Angeles before making Antonito, Colorado, her lifelong home. She was a devoted wife to the late Michael Chase Sr. and a nurturing mother to four children: Sandra Maestas, Mary Ceron, Michael Chase Jr., and the late Clifford Chase. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—James McNeil, Jonathan Maestas, Madison Chase, and Brandon Chase, Christopher Chase, Andrew Torres, Vanessa Mendez, Aleena Le, Priscilla Le and the late Kevin Ceron—and great-grandson Eli Alexander Maestas.

Despite facing the challenge of losing her sight at a seemingly early age, Susie never allowed this to diminish her spirit. She adapted, embracing audiobooks and finding immense joy and laughter in romance novels. She also loved to travel, her ability to maintain her zest for life was inspirational.

Throughout her life, Susie’s unwavering faith was a guiding light. She loved attending church and found immense satisfaction in serving the Lord. Her dedication to her faith and her community was a constant source of strength and inspiration to those around her.

Susie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Chase Sr.; her son, Clifford Chase; her grandson, Kevin Ceron; her mother, Mary Laurell; her father, Rejino Sena; and her siblings, Michael Sena and Rose Marie Flores.

Her siblings, Ruth Seymour, Laura Newell, Patricia Silvas, and William Maynor also survive her.

Susie’s life was a rich tapestry of love, faith, and courage. Her joyous spirit, the love for her large family of nieces, nephews and friends, and her unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Susie Elaine Chase will be forever cherished and remembered for her boundless love, laughter and her unyielding strength.
