Shortly after her birth the family moved to the Riverside area where Tona spent the next 98 years. She married John Hicks in 1939 and together they raised three daughters: Dixie McKenzie (Gary) of Cherry Valley, Patricia Hern of Riverside, and Judy Showalter of Woodcrest. Tona worked for Bourns Inc. starting in the late 1950s. She retired as an inspector in the late 1970s so she could enjoy camping and traveling with John.
Tona is survived by her three daughters; four grandchildren: Shelly Roberts (Richard), Frank Hern (Michelle), Jeff McKenzie, and Chris Showalter; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and granddaughter Brenda McKenzie.
A viewing will be held on February 3, 2021 from 2PM to 6PM. Due to COVID restrictions, a private burial will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on February 4, 2021.
