

Virginia Vourakis, 89, beloved Wife, Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother, passed away on February 16, 2024 in Riverside, California. She was born July 27, 1934 in Greece to Peter and Semila Iosifidis. Virginia is survived by her husband Angelo; sons Peter and partner Kerry Rosenblum, Mike and wife Christina, and Panteli and wife Denise Barrow; granddaughters Sophia and Parthena; and grandson Evangelos; and sister Tasoula in Greece. Predeceased by sister Sophie, and brothers Nick, Lazaro, and Christo. Upon being sponsored, Virginia immigrated to the United States in 1955, initially arriving in Salt Lake City, Utah. Within a few years, she moved to Riverside, California. In 1960, she married her husband Angelo of 64 years. Together they opened and ran their first coffee shop where Virginia made homemade daily specials including stuffed bell peppers, stuffed grape leaves and greek roast leg of lamb with all the trimmings. She also made delicious desserts including the well known greek dessert baklava. She was also well known for her famous "guilt-free" second to none apple pie. Her delicious cooking brought people from all over Southern California. Instilled with a strong work ethic, she worked tirelessly along with her husband Angelo to support their three sons. During the years running the coffee shop, many of her regular customers became great friends developing many fond memories. Throughout her life she had a love for music which began upon seeing Elvis Presley when she previously lived in Salt Lake City. Upon her retirement she enjoyed cooking, yard sales, and gardening where she developed a masterful green thumb caring for her beautiful succulent garden. Her greatest love of all though, were her grandchildren which brought her immense joy. Virginia will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family, giving heart, and beautiful smile. The family would like to express their thanks to Virginia's caregivers Amber, Yuri, and Michelle for their wonderful care and support. A funeral service for Virginia will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 1035 Inland Center Dr, San Bernardino, CA 92408. A luncheon will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1035 Inland Center Dr, San Bernardino, CA 92408. A graveside service will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.
