Bobby (Bob) Glen Crump, cherished husband, father, step-father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2025. Bob was a twin in the youngest set of twins born to Willard and Dorothy Crump on January 1, 1943 in Bingham Canyon, UT. Bob married Gayle Ostler and became an instant father to her children, Jeffery and Charlene. He and Gayle had two more children, Landen and Candace, which completed their family. After their divorce, Bob later married Rosemary Marston on May 15, 1980 in the Salt Lake City Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity.
Bob grew up in Sandy, UT and attended Jordan High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for 6 years with 4 of those years in active duty. He completed the necessary training to become a 3rd class noncommissioned petty officer. He was stationed at the Navy Air Facility on Midway Island for most of his service. He traveled to many places including India, China, Japan, Thailand, and Philippines during his 4 years. Before the beginning of the Vietnam War, his unit was on a secret mission of transporting over 700 US marines across the ocean to Bangkok, Thailand in order to prepare for the war. Upon his return from the Navy, he worked at Kennecott and Fluor Daniels for many years and attended a number of work certification classes with Rosemary. He settled in to his lifelong career at Butterfield Ford (Larry H Miller Ford) in Sandy where he retired. He was a very hard-working employee and made many friends throughout his career.
Bob was a very meticulous man who loved working in his yard. He had a green thumb for all types of plants, flowers, and trees. He also took pride in being very organized. He loved the little things in life and was delighted and overjoyed with all of his accomplishments, big and small, which he loved to share with all of his family and friends. He enjoyed taking Rosemary on long drives to look at the fall leaves and nature. They both found peace and tranquility in those rides which allowed them to relax and enjoy each other’s company. One of the biggest highlights for Bob was taking his four children and their spouses on a cruise to the Caribbean last year. Treasured memories and deep family bonds were strengthened on that trip.
Bob was a very positive-thinking man. It was most evident after he was diagnosed with stage-4 prostate cancer. He found extreme happiness being around his family and friends even when he had every right to be sad. He would always have something positive to say and his words would make everyone feel more at ease during their times of sorrow.
Bob was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, which he enjoyed. He loved being a part of the church and felt truly loved by all of the people in his ward.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Intermountain Hospice for giving Bob the utmost care during his last few months; his previous wife, Gayle, who provided him around-the-clock care at her home during his most difficult times; and his cousin/best friend, Jim Crump, who gave him a lifetime of cherished memories including unforgettable trips to Wendover, friendly bantering, and Tuesday visits. He loved and appreciated all of you.
Bob is survived by his brother Garry Crump, children Charlene (Jimmy) Louder, Jeffery (Tonya) Powell, Landen (JoDee) Crump, Candace (Brandon) Gregrich, 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, brothers Blaine, Larry and Billy, and twin sisters, Bonnie and Betty.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12th at 11:00 am at the LDS chapel, 4825 W 7000 S West Jordan, UT 84084.
