Emily was born January 5, 2006 to Scott & Trisha Jensen. She was born six weeks early. She entered the world on her own terms and she left this world on her own terms.
Emily brought so much love to everyone that she met. She loved everyone unconditionally and she never met anybody that she didn’t love.
Sometimes people innocently thought that Emily didn’t understand what people were saying. Emily understood every word that was spoken to her. She conveyed her understanding of what people said through the light that shined in her eyes and through the animated sounds that she spoke.
Emily loved to learn. She was a sophomore at Jordan Valley where she also attended Seminary. Some of her favorite activities at school were having stories read to her, going to music class and swinging on the big swing in her wheelchair. Through the years she had many great teachers, aides, and interveners who worked with her and helped to adapt everything that she was learning so that she could be successful at doing anything she wanted to do.
Emily was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved to sing hymns and primary songs. She loved attending church and being a part of the Young Women’s Organization. Emily had a strong testimony of the church and loved to share her testimony with others. The Holy Ghost was a constant companion to Emily.
Emily received her greatest role in life in 2013 when she became a big sister to Mackenzie. That joy was doubled in 2016 when she once again got another little sister Isabelle. Emily took her role as a big sister very seriously. Together the girls loved to watch movies, sing songs and bake cookies. Mackenzie and Isabelle learned lifelong lessons from having the blessing of a disabled sister. Some of these lessons included loving everybody unconditionally, being a friend to everyone and always thinking of others first. Emily’s sisters were her voice and always advocated for what she wanted.
Emily was an amazing daughter. She taught her parents so many life lessons. She was the strongest person that we have ever known. She taught us through her example what it means to faithfully endure to the end and have the pure light of Christ in your life.
Emily’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Some of her favorite things to do were going camping, exploring National Parks, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, going to new places, snuggling while watching movies and singing songs.
Family was a precious gift to Emily. She loved spending time with her grandparents, uncles, aunties, and cousins. Emily’s extended family enjoyed many exciting adventures with her.
Emily changed so many peoples lives for the better. One of our favorite sayings about Emily is, “Most people only dream of angels. We were lucky enough to hold one in our arms.”
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided to Emily by the nurses at Ivy Lane, IHC & CNS Hospice teams, respite workers and the many knowledgeable and compassionate doctors who cared for Emily throughout the years.
Emily is survived by her loving parents, Scott and Trisha. Her amazing sisters Mackenzie and Isabelle. Her grandparents Alan and Mary Jensen and many uncles, aunties, and cousins, who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her grandpa Hazen Robbins and her grandma Helen S. Robbins.
