Erlynne Joan Johnson, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son's home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was born April 25, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elwyn Parry and Clara Gehring. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from South High School in 1952. She married the love of her life, Wayne Gust Johnson, on November 30, 1951; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1958.
After 25 years of being out of school and being the mother of 12 children, Erlynne decided to attend Utah Technical College where she realized that her life experience had taught her many things that would assist her in her new journey. She found out quickly that she was very stimulated and challenged there. She graduated in 1980 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also became a licensed EMT. She then took a job working at Cottonwood Hospital for 15 years. She loved working there. She saved numerous lives with her medical skills.
She had a beautiful voice and sang in many choirs. She was in many road shows and plays in school. She was a very talented seamstress, knitter, crocheter, and needle pointer. Many people benefited from her handiwork. She was great at mending clothes, wounds, and hearts.
She had 12 children, 49 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved her family with all her heart.
Her role as Mom did not stop at her children. She became Mom to countless others that she took under her wing. Throughout her life, she had many animals that she cherished and loved to spoil.
She had a very adventurous heart. She loved to experience new things. She loved attending plays; swim meets; and many other performances by her family. She loved to dance and have fun. She loved flowers of all kinds. She loved going for drives and watching the sunset. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting outside in her backyard every night and watching the planes go over the house and naming which type of planes they were. She also loved to write. She wrote about her kids and her experiences.
Her CB handle was “busy fingers”, and she earned this name rightfully.
She was a deservedly, Self-proclaimed Wild Woman, elegant and magnificent, who's hair and nails were always done beautifully. Her life will not go unnoticed as her legacy will live on forever.
