Eulaween Phillips Barney

She grew up in Augusta, Georgia where the LDS missionaries taught her family. She met her husband, William Barney from Salt Lake City at the local branch while he was serving in the Army. After he was discharged, they moved to Salt Lake and later to West Valley City where they raised 7 children. She enjoyed callings in the church including Relief Society teacher, den mother for Cub Scouts, and in the nursery. A hard worker and a great example, compassionate and generous. She has greatly missed her Sweetheart and husband of 65 years since his death in 2014. She has also missed her dear sisters, who were her best friends – a joyful reunion! The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice, Dennis and Sherry for their loving and tender care.

Eulaween is survived by her children, Charles O. Barney (Patty), Diane Dennis, Linda Tanner, Robert Phillips Barney, Marilyn Odeh, Dr. Wes Barney (Penny), and son-in-law Steve Diver (Jan) of Clarence, NY, 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Sister Betty Jo McCloud of Evans, GA and sisters-in-laws Betty Evenson and Mary Ann Shuler.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. William W. Barney, daughter Joan Lee Diver, her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00 am, at the Jordan North 2nd Ward, 4270 S Falcon Street (4145 West), West Valley City, Utah 84120. The family will receive friends that day from 9:30am to 10:30am at the same location. Interment will be held at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley immediately following.
