Heather May Treadway Zaharias, 49, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017 at her home in Lehi after a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her beautiful life, she inspired all who met her with determination, optimism, tenacity and love of family. Heather was born July 19, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donna Marie Scott and Lee Edward Treadway. She grew up in Sandy, Utah and was a life-long proud Beetdigger. Heather was known for her insatiable sense of humor, her zest for friends and family, and her unquenchable love for anyone she met. That ability to love and serve was best demonstrated as she worked in her last years at Legacy Village, an independent living center in West Jordan. She loved serving the residents there. Heather was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions, but found greatest pleasure when serving the Young Women and Women of the Church.
Heather’s pride and joy, however, was her family. She married the love of her life, Andy Zaharias, in May of 2003. They loved spending time together--camping, traveling, scuba diving—especially when it included family members. Heather adored her children, Bert Page (Amber), Greg Page (Shayla), Tressie Page Walters (Taylor), Jordan Zaharias (Jade), and Laura Paulsen. But nothing lit her up like her grandchildren: Bert, Cache, and Bentley. She was also an amazing aunt to her many nieces and nephews, who all called her by the loving nickname “Aunt Heaffy.”
Besides her husband, children, and grandchildren, Heather is survived by her father Lee Treadway and step-mother Patricia; brothers Gordon Treadway (Kristi), Dee Treadway (Diantha), and Dennis Treadway (Jesica).
A public viewing will be held on Friday evening, February 10, from 7:00 to 9:00 at the LDS Church’s Traverse Mountain Stake Center, 2030 W. Chapel Ridge Rd, Lehi, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday morning, February 11, starting at 10:00. Family and friends are welcome to a viewing prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 9:45.
The family thanks the many healthcare professionals who gave such compassionate care for Heather, including three amazing IHC hospice workers—Tammy, Amy and Becky. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers you bake a cake or batch of chocolate chip cookies for a neighbor or friend in need. Heather would love that.
