Our mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and dear friend has left us too soon. Kate was in the prime of her life, when she was thrown a devastating curve ball. Cancer reared it's ugly head and through all the pain it caused, Kate kept a light heart and a vibrant sense of humor. Through her struggle she still worried about her family above herself and maintained her independent nature despite having around the clock care. Kate's battle with cancer absolutely does not define her, it was one well fought, but her life prior is what matters most. She loved to travel, especially to any location with a beach. Halloween and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She loved dressing up and going all out on decorations. She always made too many cookies and delivered them to loved ones. Kate was a woman of many talents and a Jill-of-all-trades if you will. She was creative and artistic with a knack for painting. Kate searched for her career passion in several different areas. She modeled as a teen, worked at several different airlines, spent some time working at Harmon’s grocery store, Kennecott, and even completed CDL training to drive semi-trucks. Kate was a licensed cosmetologist and worked in multiple salons before opening her own Salon which she worked in and managed. One of Kate's most cherished jobs, although it didn't last too long, was working in special education classrooms as an aide. Where she ended up in her career journey was doing airport security for the TSA. Over the many years she worked there Kate made many friendships with co-workers. Those friendships made were precious to Kate. We cannot express our gratitude to those friends who donated paid time off to Kate when she was unable to return to work. Also every kind word, phone call, card and act of support for Kate from all her many friends meant the world to her and our family.
Kate is survived by her children Mercede and Jesse Utley, her grandsons or her "babies" Miles and Acher who she loved more than anything, brother, Pete (Veronica) Trujillo, sisters, Marcie (Herman) Candelario, Gloria (Dave) Sandoval, Fran (Felix) Trujillo, Chris (Randy) Patrick, and younger brother Tony. She had several nieces and nephews who she loved like her own, and many other members of a large extended family. Preceded in death by her parents Paul E. and Teresa L. Trujillo, and nephew Angelo Trujillo.
Greatest appreciation to Kate's nurse Heidi from Hearts for Hospice, you're truly an earth angel.
