Sherryn Quentin passed away peacefully at her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah on October 8th, 2023 after a short, courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Sherryn was born November 10th, 1945 to William and Tressie Christensen in Salt Lake City, Utah and was the youngest of five children.
Growing up, Sherryn was very creative, writing many stories and poems, some of which were published. She was also a natural performer. She was cast in many of her school plays and loved being on stage. She graduated from Granite High School in 1964 and attended college at the University of Utah.
Sherryn's love for the performing arts helped her land a dream job with Repertory Dance Theater (RDT). In 1976, she moved to Northern California and worked for Polygram. It was then she met her husband, Robert of New York, on a blind date. They were married on September 30, 1978 and moved to Utah. Soon after, they settled down and started a family. Sherryn's greatest joy in life was being able to stay at home and raise her two daughters, Sarah and Ashley. She was very involved in their various activities, never missing a soccer game or a school performance.
Sherryn developed a love for soccer after watching her two daughters play. She was a huge fan of Major League Soccer, especially Real Salt Lake. She and her husband Bob enjoyed spending many of their evenings catching up on recent games. She also did her best to attend her grandkids' soccer games and you would always hear her cheering proudly from the sidelines.
As an avid thrifter and collector, Sherryn would never pass up a chance to stop by a great yard sale or thrift shop. Many of her treasures are displayed beautifully through her home. Her love for beautiful things was also reflected in her fun, unique style and she was always dressed to impress. She would never leave the house without her lipstick and was often mistaken for being much younger than she was.
Sherryn's heart was so big, she often put everyone else's needs before hers. She devoted her life to taking care of her two children and six grandchildren, doing her best to make them feel cherished and loved. She gave the most thoughtful gifts and made every holiday feel so special. She always found a way to bring people together, whether it be a simple game of cards or her annual Christmas Eve party. She created lasting memories and traditions for us all to cherish.
Her love and compassion also extended to animals, especially dogs. Her home was always filled with joyful barks and wagging tails of her own companions, who were truly considered part of her family. Some would say she was a dog whisperer. She also made sure all the birds in her yard were happy and fed.
The loss of our beloved wife, mother, and Nana leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled. She truly was the heart of her family.
Sherryn is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law: Ron and Carole Christensen, brother: Lee Christensen, and parents: William and Tressie Christensen.
She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters: Sarah Quentin-Smith (Tyler Smith), Ashley Sylvia (Andrew); six grandchildren, sister: Tonna Epperson, and brother: Gary Christensen.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 16th at 11:00am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 S. Highland Drive in Millcreek, Utah.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers at Tender Care Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided. The kindness shown by each member of their team has made this journey a little easier to bear.
