Thomas was born on August 24th, 1991, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Michael Robert Weis and Lucia Rodriguez Weis. He was their last born and was blessed to have four older siblings who he adored. His childhood was full of joy and love and was the foundation for the happy life he led.
After completing school and spending some time in what he called the "real world", Thomas decided that he wanted to do something more. He enlisted in the United States Army and in early 2011 attended and graduated from 19D OSUT at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He would go on to be stationed in South Korea from 2011 to 2013, where he served as an armorer and met his future husband, Aaron Russell. Thomas and Aaron cared deeply for each other, years of friendship turned into love, and 6 years later they were married on November 1st, 2017.
Thomas' interests were almost too numerous to list. He was a painter and a musician. He loved to read and thrived on deep conversations. He liked to grow plants and loved playing with his dog, Guilty. Thomas also enjoyed all kinds of video games and could often be found playing late into the night with friends online. He studied the stars and the clouds. He enjoyed his telescope and would spend hours listening to music while looking up, enthralled by the night sky. Even with all of this though, he most often spent his nights cuddled up with his loving husband and their dog, just enjoying each other's company. He was most happy when his family was all together, whether at a bbq or a birthday. If there was a special occasion or not, he just loved it when his parents, siblings, niece and nephews were all in the same place being happy.
The joy and love that Thomas brought to this world will not diminish with his passing. He is loved by so many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His words, his laughter, and the life he led will serve as a reminder to all of us to embrace what is truly important. He was a true example of what it meant to live in the moment. And while he will be sorely missed, we must remember to be grateful for the time we got to spend with him and know that while this feels like "goodbye", it is really just "see you later".
Thomas is survived by his husband, Aaron Russell; His mother, Lucia Rodriguez Weis; His siblings: Robert Weis, Mitchell Weis (Kimberly), Renae Boynton (Branden), Melissa Koplin (Steven); His niece and nephews: Brantley, Daxden, Oliver, Harlyn, and Dallin; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
