Our beloved sister and aunt, Violet Kathleen Morrison, a woman of strong faith, musical talent, and a deep love for her extended family, passed away on March 26, 2026, due to complications from cancer. She was 84 years old.
Born on March 24, 1942, in Nampa, Idaho, to Theodore Eugene Morrison and Helen Mildred Fike. She was a graduate of Nampa High School, Class of 1960, where she shared her musical gifts as a violinist in the school orchestra. Her passion for the violin led her to Brigham Young University, where she continued her musical studies.
While she was known to many as Kathy, she was affectionately known by her family as "Casserole." The nickname came from her young niece Kimberly’s struggle to pronounce "Kathy," and to Casserole’s delight, the name stuck for the rest of her life.
Throughout her career, Kathy found great purpose in the personal care industry. She particularly enjoyed her years working in nursing homes, providing comfort and companionship to those in their later stages of life.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kathy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. This devotion manifested in her passion for genealogy. She spent countless hours meticulously documenting her ancestry, eventually compiling an impressive collection of 20 volumes of family history workbooks. Her files were filled with letters and photographs she gathered through decades of patient searching and correspondence.
Casserole spent her final months in hospice care at The Inn Between and Monument Health Canyon Rim skilled nursing facilities. Even in her final days, her social spirit remained bright. She genuinely enjoyed the new friendships she made with the staff who cared for her and her fellow patients.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Helen, her brothers, Theodore and Samuel, and her niece, Kimberly. She leaves behind a legacy of family history, music, and a nickname that will forever bring a smile to those who loved her.
A graveside service will be held on April 8 at 2:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens,1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah.
