William Brent Richins, affectionately known to family and friends as Brent, passed away peacefully at his home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 83, after courageously battling non-smoker’s lung cancer for two years. Born on March 29, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brent was the beloved son of Afton E. Richins and Leah Richins.
Brent was raised in a home filled with love, alongside his siblings, Shirlene Burt, Margene Tucker, Connie Foulger, Gayle Burgoyne, and Jann Ludlow. He cherished these relationships deeply, fostering family bonds that remained steadfast throughout his life.
As a young man, Brent served as an LDS missionary in Scotland – an experience that cultivated his love of world history and travel.
In 1976, Brent married Eugenia “Geni” Louise Suazo, with whom he shared 50 years of unwavering devotion and love. Together, they built a life rich in laughter and adventure. They enjoyed traveling, antiquing Art Nouveau or Art Deco period pieces, caring for their cats and birds, designing, riding in convertible cars, and watching documentaries side-by-side.
A proud alumnus of Highland High School, Brent continued his education at the University of Utah. Beyond his formal education, he remained a lifelong learner, continually and passionately learning about the world and refining his mechanical expertise.
Brent was a master craftsman with diverse talents and interests. He owned and operated a successful printing business and was equally skilled in welding, fabricating custom motorcycle parts, and restoring classic sports cars and motorcycles. His reputation as a master mechanic was renowned, and his innovative spirit was evident in every project he undertook. His home reflected his passions – a unique blend of vintage treasures and mechanical marvels in perfect harmony.
Brent was truly one of the world’s most interesting men. A craftsman with a deep love for his wife, his family and friends, cars, motorcycles, all things Scottish, and creative manufacturing. He was warm, generous, and kind. His boundless enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met and leaves behind a trail of inspired hearts and cherished memories.
Brent is survived by his beloved wife, Geni. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Brent’s generous spirit and enduring love for life. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and mechanical wonder will continue to inspire all who knew him best. Rest in peace until we meet again, our dear Brent.
At Brent’s request, a general funeral service will not be held, and his remains have been laid to rest in a columbarium niche at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, located at 3401 Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah. (40.697321, -111.841875)
