Ronald Boyd Andrews

We are sad to announce that Ronald Boyd Andrews, age 66 of Roanoke, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 14, 2025, during his battle with cancer. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on February 17, 1959.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Andrews; his mother, Betty Carter; his sister, Sherry Harlow; and his fur-buddy, Joey, whom he spoiled terribly.

He is survived by his life partner of 45 years, Vickie Perdue who supported him and cared for him until the very end; life daughter April Williams and husband Ric; Brothers, Tim Andrews and wife, Sherrie; Jeff Andrews and wife, Nadine; Sisters, Ann Andrews; Missy Pope Abney and husband Kevin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was known to many as Ronnie, Ron, or Boyd. To his grandchildren, he was known as Paw-Paw. His life grandchildren include Dylan and his wife Ashley; Tori and her husband Grayson; Zach, Malik, Khalil, and Zachary.

He graduated from William Byrd High School. He worked for the City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation and eventually retired to pursue a business venture in the Tire Industry. He was a simple man who never met a stranger. His time was mostly spent helping family and friends with various projects, deliveries, or providing rides here and there. Every morning at 11 am, he enjoyed watching The Price is Right. He loved sports, and football was his favorite. Whenever the Cowboys were playing, he was always there to watch and never without snacks. He enjoyed nightly three-way calls with his "best friend," his brother Tim, and sister Ann, while watching Newsmax. Anyone who knew him would know that his favorite pastime always involved the lottery and going to Rosie's. Life indeed has a significant element of luck. However, sadly, during his battle with cancer, the lottery of life faded away.

The family would like to express their gratitude to so many, including Drs. Sameh G. Aziz, Thomas O'Neil, Eric Pierce and his team, as well as the Carilion and Blue Ridge staff, for their care and compassion during his treatment at Blue Ridge Cancer Care. We are truly grateful to Dr. Eric Williams for his unwavering compassion, expertise, and the positive impact during Ronnie's care.

Please join us for a remembrance gathering honoring Ronald Boyd Andrews at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens located at 5731 Airport RD NW, Roanoke, VA 24012.
