Gene Wayland Taylor

Gene Wayland Taylor, 85, of 305 Anderson Drive, Robersonville NC died Monday September 3 at Martin General Hospital. There will be a 3:00pm funeral service at the First Baptist church in the Fellowship Hall on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 officiated by Rev. Brooks Wadsworth and burial will follow at the Robersonville Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was a member of the First Baptist Church and Stonewall Masonic Lodge of Robersonville attended the Robersonville High School and graduated from the University of South Carolina. He served in the United States Air Force and Merchant Marines during World War II.

He enjoyed canoeing the rivers and creeks of Eastern North Carolina, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Warren "Willie" Sr. and Bettie Taylor, a sister, and two .brothers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann, son Scott taylor, a grandson Ryan Taylor, and a granddaughter Anna Taylor. and several nieces and nephews. The family will rececive friends at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville, Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Robersonville Rescue Squad or a charity of choice.
