Edgar Glenn Skaggs

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline with military honors provided by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299.

Edgar was born on November 26, 1947 in Moline, the son of William Freeman and Evelyn Jean (Rohr) Skaggs. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He worked for many years as a machinist at the former Case plant in Bettendorf. He later worked as a shuttle driver for railroad engineers. In his free time he enjoyed fishing at Sylvan Slough and spending time by the river.

Survivors (and spouses) include his mother, Evelyn Skaggs, Rock Island; children, Danielle Lea, in Canada, Christopher Skaggs, Peoria Heights, IL, Beth Skaggs, Davenport, IA, Kelly (Scotty) Guthrie, Gresham, OR, and Travis (Nicole) Hodges, Rock Island; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, John (Connie) Skaggs, Hallsville, MO; sister, Jean “Sally” Faith, Salem, MO; stepchildren, Jerry Younger, Amanda Chadd, and Courtney Chadd; and six nieces and nephews.

His father preceded Mr. Skaggs in death.
