Mrs. Wilkins died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island.
Evelyn Arlene was born on February 26, 1928, in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Ernest William and Mabel Lorene (Eddington) Krueger. She married Harry G. Wilkins on March 6, 1949 at First United Methodist Church, Rock Island. He preceded her in death November 14, 1999.
Evelyn was a homemaker for most of her life, but had worked for Container Corp of America prior to taking on the full time work of being a mother. She was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, and was at one time active with the youth group, serving as a chaperone on out of town choir trips, and overnight retreats at Camp Milan.
She enjoyed the time spent with her family, teaching her grandchildren how to water ski, going camping and fishing, and winters spent with her husband in Texas. She was never afraid to try new things, taking a 60 mile road trip on a motorcycle at age 80, and trying tubing and para sailing at 81. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, vegetable gardening, playing euchre, and a good joke. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate person who will be missed by her family very much.
Survivors (and spouses) include her daughters, M. Jean (Alan) Jackson, Rock Island, and Janice (Bryan) Randerson, Apple Valley, CA; grandchildren, children of Jean and Alan: Nicole (Mike) Locken, Denver, CO, and Natalie (Deric) Bert, San Francisco, CA; children of Janice and Bryan: Erika, Apple Valley, CA, Jamie, Davenport, IA, Eric (Crystal), Lakewood, CO, and Craig (Amanda), Davenport, IA; great grandchildren, Isabella & Cassidy; sister-in-law, Marge Thornton, Cedar Rapids, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, her parents, and sisters, Ernestine W. Thomas and Dorothy Bowers preceded Mrs. Wilkins in death.
