Kent John Everett Talbot

Kent was born on May 8, 1952 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Joseph and Mary (Hise) Talbot. He graduated from Galva High School in 1970. He married Sheri Chilberg on September 19, 1981 in Bishop Hill, IL. Kent retired from American Honda in Davenport in 2009, following 26 years with the company.

Kent enjoyed all sports, but loved his St. Louis Cardinals, as well as being a fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls. He was very involved in all his daughter’s sports, and coached her while she played in the Rock Island Parks Softball League. Kent also enjoyed playing cards, running and working out at RIFAC. He was of the Catholic faith, most recently having attended Sacred Heart Church in Rock Island.

Kent was lucky enough in life to be able to say his daughter was his best friend. He was very excited for the upcoming birth of his first grandchild, and becoming a grandpa.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. Memorial visitations will be held on Friday, June 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home in Rock Island, and at Rux Funeral Home in Galva, IL, on Saturday, June 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family, for a fund to be established for his granddaughter’s future. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Survivors (and spouses) include his daughter, Lauren Talbot, Rock Island; former spouse Sheri Talbot, Rock Island, who have remained close friends throughout the years; sisters, Judith (Tom) Cole, Louisville, CO, and Mary Jo Petersen, Aurora, CO; brother, Richard (Ruth Ann) Talbot, Galva, IL; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
