Lyle was born on February 6, 1935 in Rock Island, a son of Lyle F. and Mildred (Rifley) Wheeler. He worked for many years in the heating and cooling business as a sheet metal worker and installer. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 91 in Rock Island. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
