Michael LaMoyne Elsey

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Michael was born on August 15, 1955 in Corpus Christi, TX, the son of LaMoyne and Myvon (Mettlin) Elsey. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1973. Following high school, Michael joined the United States Marine Corps, serving for four years, being honorably discharged in 1977.

Mike married Bennie Boyd in December of 1988. He worked for Alcoa for 20 years, and later worked for Craig Trucking for 10 years. He was a kind, considerate, and loving father and husband until his passing. His peaceful disposition, along with his compassion for people will be missed; may his soul rest in peace.

Mike leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his contributions to this life his wife Bennie; children, Shaun and BreAun Elsey, Michael Boyd, and Marcus Comer; brothers Chris (Rose) Elsey and Brian (Shannon) Elsey; grandchildren, Niesha and Damien, whom he loved dearly; as well as a host of Boyd family relatives, and many friends.

Preceding Mr. Elsey in death were his brother, Curtis; and grandparents, Marion and Earl Mettlin, and Ernie Thompson.
