

Miss Ledford was a graduate of McMinn County High School, she attended Furman University and then moved to Titusville in 1966 where she graduated from Brevard Community College. She was a retired broker with the Luke Cain State Farm Insurance Agency where she worked her entire professional career. Carla enjoyed regular journeys to the United Kingdom, frequent visits to family and friends all over the United States. While traveling she would often combine her love of genealogy and local history with sight-seeing and adventure. She loved discovering new places and learning their story, she especially enjoyed visiting lighthouses and special places connected with her own remarkable American & English heritage. She was a very loving and dedicated family member making every gathering memorable.
Carla Jane Ledford was a Christian; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, with over 50 years of active membership in First Baptist Church of Mims, she spent her entire adult life supporting its work and ministry. She was a constant presence in the church’s music program serving as a Choir Director & frequent Soprano soloist. She taught Sunday School and frequently participated in church evangelistic outreach, especially AWANA, Vacation Bible School, and the annual Mims Mullet Festival. Carla served on the By-Laws Committee, Historian, Treasurer, and Insurance Advisor. She cared about the church’s broader mission and served regularly as the church representative to the Brevard Baptist Association, Canaveral Seaport Ministry Gala, and a Messenger to the Southern Baptist Convention.
She was predeceased by her father (Ray Arthur Ledford), mother (Audrey Mae Melton Ledford), brother (Ray Arthur Ledford, Jr.) and sister (Shirley Anne Ledford Duncan). She is survived by her six nephews: Ray Arthur Ledford III of Titusville, J. Ligon Duncan III (Anne) of Jackson, MS, Mark Darden Ledford (Deandra) of New Smyrna Beach, John McDow Duncan (Cindy) of Easley, SC, Melton Ledford Duncan (Lynda) of Greer, SC, Tony J. Ledford (Cyndi) of Mims and a niece Nancy Ledford Usher (Dennis) of Brunswick, GA; also seventeen grandnephews and nieces: Dustin Ledford of Tallahassee, John McDow Duncan, Jr. (Bessie) of Easley, SC, Sarah Kennedy Duncan Spurgeon (Thomas) of Greenville, SC, Tony Ledford of Mims, Blair Evelyn Duncan of Greenville, SC, James Struan Knox Duncan of Greenville, SC, Jennings Ligon Duncan IV (Sarah Grace) of Jackson, MS, Lindsay Allister Duncan of Easley, SC, Marissa Dee Ledford of New Smyrna, Connor Ledford of Mims, Melton Ledford Duncan, Jr. of Greer, SC, Frances Marian Duncan of Greer, SC, Mary Elizabeth Duncan of Greer, SC. Carla Jane Ledford was so pleased to be the great-great aunt of Khloe and Keona Ledford of Mims, and Jane Arlow Duncan of Easley, SC.
Surrounded by family, she died in Christ.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11am at the First Baptist Church, 2395 Kentucky Ave, Mims, Florida. Funeral service to follow at 12:00. Graveside committal at Brevard Memorial Park, 320 Spring St, Cocoa, FL 32927 led by Rev. Dr. J. Ligon Duncan III, CEO & Chancellor of Reformed Theological Seminary and Brother Pat Leverington, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church of Mims.
