Charlene Keating, 79, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2011. Charlene was born in Pearcy, Arkansas on November 19th, 1931. She was raised during her formative years on an 80 acre farm in Arkansas where she learned the values of self-sufficiency and hard work. These values would follow her throughout her life. She was married in 1954 to an Army soldier, Bernard “Bernie” Keating, and together they forged a marriage over the next 53 years until his passing in 2007. Always resourceful, she raised three children, moving frequently to new military posts, quickly setting up the family in new and unfamiliar surroundings to create a home. Following Bernie’s Army retirement in 1967, they settled the family in Melbourne, Florida where she remained until her passing. She loved animals, her church, cooking, and always opened her home to family and friends. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by; Son William Keating and wife Leslie of Atlanta, Georgia; Son Charles Keating and wife Jean of Williamsburg, Virginia; Daughter Brenda Johnson and husband Jim of Tallahassee, Florida; Grandchildren Carl Johnson, Sean Keating, Elliott Keating, and Ethan Keating; Sisters Mary Plyler and husband Carl of Glenwood, Arkansas and Frankie Ziolkowski of Atlanta, Georgia.
