

Charles “Charlie” Cecrle, a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, passed away on December 18, 2024. Charlie, as he was known to many around the world, was born in May 1938. After high school Charlie enlisted in the Air Force and his first duty station was Misawa, Japan. During his next tour to McChord AFB he met Joyce Mann and was soon married. Charlie got orders to Ramstein AFB, Germany where his new family was expanded with Trent and Jeffri. Charlie was transferred about every 2 - 3 years to duty stations around the world. During his travels Charlie accumulated many amazing stories and more importantly great friends.
Charlie had many jobs in the Air Force. He started as a jet mechanic but settled down with communications, which included troubleshooting those systems all over each of his duty stations. Charlie retired in 1978 from the Air Force, settling down in Melbourne Florida with his family. With his love for troubleshooting he acquired a job on Kennedy Space Center, which had him traveling throughout the center troubleshooting and repairing multiple systems.
During his off time Charlie dabbled in many sports and crafting areas. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He took classes in oil painting, ceramics, welding, and started woodworking to make furniture and items around the house. He eventually settled down with woodturning. Charlie enjoyed making pens, ornaments, and many other objects which he happily gave away to others for their enjoyment. He truly enjoyed going to the Woodturners Club meetings where he shared his experiences while learning from other members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and second son Jeffri. He's survived by Joyce, Ben, Lou and first son Trent to name a few. Charlie has several grandchildren to include Keatin, Lauren, Mathias, Sampson and Wiley.
A memorial service to honor Charlie’s life and military service will be held at the Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, FL. on January 10, 3:oo pm.
