Charles (Charlie) W. Liska, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Merritt Island, Florida on Monday, May 11, 2026. Born in New York City, New York and then relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 1970 before settling in Merritt Island in 2001.
He lived a life defined by family and adventure. After moving from New York to Florida, he spent decades enjoying the Florida lifestyle he loved. Whether he was casting a line or exploring a new corner of the globe, Charlie saw the world with wonder. Charlie knew how to command a room and leave people smiling. Holding court at the Elks Club or any social gathering with an endless supply of new jokes or one of his legendary stories made him the heart of every gathering.
He is now reunited with his favorite travel companion and wife of 59 years, Betty Liska. His spirit lives on in his children, Chuck (Maribeth) Liska, Joan (Joe) Fazzini. His grandsons Tony (Monica) Fazzini, Mike (Lindsay) Fazzini, Kenny, and Andrew Liska. He also leaves behind his littlest light, Great Granddaughter Mylah, who will grow up hearing plenty of “Pop Pop” stories.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Church (1940 North Courtenay Parkway Merritt Island, Florida 32953)
After the Memorial Mass we will be gathering to swap stories and honor Charlie’s memory in the Divine Mercy Social Hall. Please bring your favorite memory to share with the family.
