Chester "Chet" L. Rice, retired LTC, U.S. Army, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Wuesthoff Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Chet was the son of the late Robert S. Rice and Ella Mae Johnson Rice.
He received honors, awards, and fellowship, including the Bronze Star, Meritorius Service Medal, Army Comm Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Chet leaves behind his wife, Helen; brother, Donald (Mildred) Rice; a host of nephews, nieces, and friends; an aunt; and two sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Rice and Robert Rice, Jr. and his sister, Dolores Henderson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm, with a funeral service following at 3 pm at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens.
