David was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 10, 1958 to Walter Joseph Lezenby and Eleanor Casper. He moved to Rockledge Florida when he was 7yrs old and attended St. Mary’s through the 8th grade. He was a proud graduate of Rockledge High School class of 1976. During High School, he followed in his brother’s foot steps as a wrestler. He took woodworking classes in High School which is where he found his passion for creating something special and everlasting through carpentry.
In the early 90’s, David moved to Tampa. While he lived in Tampa, he worked for a cabinetry business and was assigned a contract to complete all woodwork and cabinetry for a prominent surgeon’s mansion and guest home in South Tampa. He also did custom carpentry work for General Norman Schwarzkopf. In 1996, David moved to the Northeast Georgia Mountains. He went to work for North Georgia Kitchen and Bath in Hiawassee Georgia. He also worked for Boyd’s Custom Cabinets in Murphy North Carolina. In 2000, David started his own business, Advanced Designs in Young Harris Georgia. He loved to build beautiful custom kitchens and baths for lakefront homes. In November 2004, David married his wife, Karen. They built a beautiful home with a Mother-in-Law suite which David used as his workshop. He was honored when he was asked to build a custom bookcase for the Speaker of the House of Georgia for his Atlanta office. He also built a custom kitchen in Blairsville Georgia for Amanda Bearse, who played Marcy in the hit show “Married with Children”. He moved back to Florida in 2010 and went to work for Designer’s Choice Cabinetry in Rockledge. When he left Designer’s Choice Cabinetry, he went to work for Merritt Island Boatworks and created custom cabinetry for yachts. He really enjoyed taking these yachts for a test run on the intercostal waterway. His last job was with Cabinet Design’s of Central Florida, the owner was a friend of David’s since the second grade, Danny Scott.
David loved his animals and he enjoyed being on the water boating, fishing and water skiing. When he was not on the water, you could find him cheering on his all-time favorite teams, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. He had lots of fun building and launching rockets with his brother, Michael. He enjoyed cooking and loved to eat crab legs. On a beautiful Florida day, you could find David on his electric bike cruising around town.
Rest in Peace, David. You will live on forever in our hearts and our memories.
A Celebration of Live will be held for David, Saturday August 2nd at the Live Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 S US Hwy 1, Rockledge, Florida starting at 1PM with a reception to follow.
