

Delbert Blane Murphy, 92, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014. Delbert was born on November 29, 1921, the oldest of 17 children, in Lawrence County, KY to Everett and Stella Murphy. He graduated from Burch High School in 1942, and was previously employed by Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company. Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and came to reside in the state of Florida in August on 1983, from New Albany, OH.
Delbert was a member of the Merritt Island Moose #2073 since 1984, a Life Member of the VFW Merritt Island Post 5440, and American Legion #22. He was also a member of Merritt Island Lodge #353, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Orlando, FL, Azan Temple of Melbourne, FL, ACM Bar Grotto of Columbus, OH, and Eastern Star 101, as well as The Central Brevard Shrine Club of Merritt Island, Beachside Shrine Club of Cocoa Beach, and the Hillbilly Horse Traders Honorary Degree.
He loved bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Debby (Steve) Bodie of Merritt Island, FL; step-son, Clifford Titter of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bill) Schottel of IL, Stephen (Cindy) Bodie Jr. of OH, Delbert Thacker of OH, Ed Ruby of OH, Tammy McFann of OH, Paula Campagno of Washington Court House, OH; many great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Ray Murphy of VA, Donnie and Ronnie Murphy of OH, and June Murphy of WV ; and sisters Marie Evans and Edith Farley of KY, and Dorthy Curry, NM.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4-6p.m. at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in Rockledge, with a funeral service on Monday, February 10th at 11:00a.m., also at The Life Event Center. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
