Dolores was born on April 6, 1932 in Alamosa, Colorado, and was a longtime resident of Denver and Santa Fe, New Mexico. She met her beloved husband of 60 years in Denver where she worked as a Samsonite laborer. Dolores was also an organizer/activist for the Crusade for Justice in the 60s and 70s focusing on social, political, and economic justice for Chicanos. After leaving Samsonite, Dolores took on the role of entrepreneur, starting her own catering company which flourished for 12 years. The highlight of her career was catering for John Elway and the Denver Broncos. After retiring, Dolores moved to Santa Fe to be closer to her family. She enjoyed an active lifestyle traveling to many different states and countries while visiting her grandchildren in the military, working out (even with the Marines), dancing, going on long walks, and of course shopping!
She is survived by her loving husband, Albert Gonzales; her daughters Jacqueline Gonzales Taylor and Victoria Duran; her grandchildren Issac Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales, Adrian Duran, and Michelle Lovitt; her great grandchildren; her sisters Mary Dominguez, Lorraine Espino, Shirley Dominguez, and Beatrice Rea; her brother Bobby Griego; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her parents Jose Alberto Griego and Maria (Archuleta) Griego; and her 11 brothers and sisters.
In keeping with Dolores’ wishes, there will not be a memorial service. We ask you keep your family close and remember Dolores as the strong active woman we all knew her to be.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Dolores' name to the American Cancer Society.
