

Neil Schopke , 89, Rockledge, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones July 30, 2025 after a short illness.
Neil was born in Lake Alfred, Florida on December 14, 1935 to John Henry and Varina Schopke. Upon graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before continuing his education at his beloved University of Florida. During his time at University, Neil played football for the Gators and was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated with his Bachelors of Science from the College of Engineering and moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1961 where he was employed as an engineer by Radiation. During this time, Neil pursued his professional engineers and general contractors license. A driven entrepreneur, Neil would establish many successful companies and served as the president of the local home builders association.
Neil was a purpose driven man and a strong believer in giving back to his community. He thoughtfully aimed to leave a lasting legacy for his family and the institutions that he believed mattered most. He was active in his church and facilitated the building of numerous ministries, volunteered with the Salvation Army , ringing the bell at Christmastime, and established a merit and work ethic based scholarship fund at the UF College of Engineering.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Bobby and Jack, and son John Schopke. Neil is survived by his wife, Carol Schopke, twin sister Eleanor Cumbie, son, Scott Schopke and wife Shelly, grandchildren, Loryn, Braden and his wife Jordan, Mason, Jackson, Georgianna, Elliotte and great grandson John Thomas.
The funeral service is to be held at Coastline Community Church in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 am
