

Ernie was born in Long Beach, California, on July 19, 1945, and moved to Ridgecrest, California, where he graduated from Burroughs High School.
In 1966, he married Bonnie, the love of his life. Ernie was a wonderful dad to Jennifer Carlson (Chris) and Don Bevis (Jennifer), and Papa to four grandchildren, Rebekah and Rachael Pearce and Jonathan and Elyssa Bevis. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Ella Bevis, and sister Beverly Bevis.
Ernie entered the Air Force in 1965, working various assignments in South Carolina, Japan, Oklahoma, Thailand, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Norway, and Colorado. After retiring from the Air Force in 1985, he began working as a government employee at Lowry AFB and later transferred to Patrick AFB. He finished his 20 years in government service with the Army at Cape Canaveral AFS in September 2007.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed participating and spectating in football, baseball, and softball. He was also a loyal Denver Broncos fan and liked watching NASCAR. Additionally, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8191, and served two terms as Commander.
Visitation with family and friends is scheduled for 09:00 AM, and a memorial service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Life Event Center, Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida 32955. Celebration of Life will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8191, 4130 N Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne, Florida 32935, following the memorial service.
