Francis Thomas Barth Jr.

Devoted husband of the late Patricia (nee Larkin) and son of the late Frank and Eileen (nee Haran), Francis was born on May 26, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, class of 1960.

In 1962, he married his beloved wife Patricia and eventually settled as longtime residents of Smithtown, New York to raise their three children. Early employment included Service Bureau/IBM and the International Longshoremen’s Association Medical Center. This was followed by a long career as a Telecommunications manager at Fairchild Republic Co in Farmingdale and as a pari-mutuel clerk at Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury.

In 2005, Frank and Pat relocated to Viera, Florida to enjoy retirement and to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He truly enjoyed the successes of his children and had a particular interest in learning the history of his ancestors. Trips to Hawaii and Germany held fond memories, which were just as important to him as those from growing up in Brooklyn and especially the times that were had in Smithtown.

Memories of family reunions in Smithtown or at any of the Larkin family homes were legendary to Dad and always brought him a smile. Trips to the Kelly’s or having them for the holidays were a staple and were always a wonderful time.

He is survived by his children and their spouses; Patricia and Gus Diaz, Eileen Barth, Frank and Christine Barth, grandsons; Matthew and Nicholas Diaz, step grandchildren; Emilie and Matthew, great grandson Ezekiel, his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Don Kelly, brother Patrick, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation for Francis will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Life Event Center At Florida Memorial, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Melbourne, FL 32940.
