Garvis G. Brown, 79, of Merritt Island, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2010 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. He was born in Hamburg, AK on May 31, 1931; he served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired from NASA. Garvis was active in Merritt Island Masonic Lodge 353, as Shrine Jester and in Scottish Rite, the VFW, American Legion, 40/8, and Merritt Island Moose Lodge 2073. He is survived by sons, Robert Allen (Lilliana) Brown of Rockport, TX, K. Mark (Jenny) Brown of Florence, KY; daughter, Gloria Barna of Merritt Island; brother, Harold Allen Brown; sister, Miriam Langston; five grandchildren, Nichole and Brittany Barna, Shelia and Dallas Brown, Sharon Lowe; great-grandchildren, Morgan Lowe, Blake Jones and Nicholas Kennedy. He is preceded in death by his wife Sara. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Wednesday, November 17 at Florida Memorial Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11am in the chapel.
