Pastor Balius made an impact on my life. He trusted me to teach adult Sunday School when I was young in the Lord. He also was supportive of my work at the school associated with the church. I’ll never forget the school anthem he wrote for us:

My heartfelt condolences in Christ to Lisa and all the family. I know he is sorely missed. All glory to our Lord, Savior, and King of Glory, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Gerald Balius was one of the kindest and most self giving  you could ever meet. He helped me with kind words and encouragement after my husband passed away.  We would sit and talk for hours and he always had so many stories about life to share.  His selflessness never ceased to amaze me. I admired and loved him for just being him. The times we spent talking I will cherish forever. 

I first met Pastor Balius when he came to work with Evangel Bible Fellowship.
 Pastor Balius was the most Godly man I ever met. I am the luckiest person in the world I was raised and mentored by the two most GODLY people I ever met, my mother and Pastor Balius .I spent a lot of time with Pastor and never ever heard a unkind or angry word out of his mouth.
 Pastor Balius was a true pastor. He was a man that cared and truly loved the people in his congregation. He would do anything he could to help them. Many times I took him on visitations when he was sicker than the people we went to visit and I couldn’t do anything to stop him. The only time we were able to stop Pastor was when he had to have a pacemaker inserted and they wouldn’t let him out of the hospital. Pastor Balius was a father to my wife and I, a grandfather to our kids and mentor to me. Pastor went with us on family vacations to Bass Lake and loved to drive the boat and we even tried to get Pastor to ski with my youngest son Kevin yelling you can do “pas” you can do it.
 Pastor loved to swim and he seemed to swim forever. I can tell you that I was a lot younger and could never keep up with him no matter how hard I tried.
 Pastor loved to fish and take the children from church fishing and yes he had a special fishing pole which my daughter Kristen loved to use. It tickled Pastor that Kristen would put worms on the hooks when the boys wouldn’t.
 My family and I loved Pastor Balius. We wanted so much to be able to get to see Pastor but my health wouldn’t allow me to fly.
I know that Pastor was always praying for me and that encouraged me more than anyone would know.
 I know that there is one thing that I left out so far and it is the thing that Pastor is known for. You couldn’t be around Pastor any time without hearing his most favorite saying “Isn’t GOD Good”. GOD was the most important part of Pastor Balius’s life and he lived it that way.

My memories of uncle Gerald was his gentle spirit , love for his family his knowledge of the word of god . Oh my his special prayers when he would call us during bad times pray for us and such peace would come over us . I knew he loved me he told me plus his encouragement to me to teach the word of god . Always told me how proud he was of me David and Judy and family ! he will be forever in our hearts and A legacy he left 😥🙏

Paw Paw, I am so blessed that you are my grandfather I couldn’t ask for a better one. I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me my entire life. All the great times that you and I went to Denny’s for breakfast you made my apples and peanut butter for midnight snack and I still do it every night I so humbled by you. I love Long talks.  You use to make us laugh.  I love the stories that you used to tell us and I appreciate you more than you’ll never know. I miss and I love you Papa

This faithful servant of the Lord cared more about people and God's purpose for their lives than any other man I have ever known.  He was my mentor, pastor, counselor, and personal friend, as I served with Him in ministry.  Everyday I was a blessed person for knowing this Godly man.  He will be greatly missed by all.  I am in wait to see him again and celebrate eternity.

My thoughts and prayers are continually with his family.

My Dear Dad,  you have always been a Father to me.  You always treated me like one of your sons.  You have done for me than anyone else.  I love & miss you very much.  Thank you for spending those last nine months with my father before he passed and reading scripture with them and helping him to give his heart to the Lord before he died.  There is no words to  thank you.  You touched so many lives.  I love you!

Paw Paw,  I love & miss you more than you will know.  I really enjoyed making you breakfast, lunch & dinner.  You taught me how to swim when I was 2.   I loved you teaching me the piano.  I loved going swimming with just you & I.  I would really enjoy you teaching & explaining Gods word.  You were Perfect to me.  You have a heart of Gold.  I miss you very much!  Your funeral was Beautiful.  Can’t wait to be with you again. I love you the most❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Most of all I miss seeing you everyday & us having our great conversations & our night time prayers.

Gerald  will be greatly missed.  He was a father to me in a state where I had no family close by. Not only a father, but one that truly cared about me, truly considered me his daughter, and prayed for me daily. I don’t think I would’ve made it through the last five years without his faithful  prayers. He was also the grandfather to my four children in all aspects of the word. They considered him their pawpaw and loved him dearly. They too, would not have made it through these last five years, without his faith and prayers over them and his words of wisdom to them and his love,  that only a grandfather can show. I am very grateful to him for taking us in as his own and for fervently and  faithfully praying for us and for being an ear whenever my  children needed someone to talk to you. You will be greatly missed dad and pawpaw.  But we look forward to our reunion soon.  ❤️

Pastor Gerald Balius was my pastor, counseler, and most of all my friend. He was the Greatest man of God ive ever met. He married myself and Sabrina my wife, December 28, 1986. We have 4 children and married to this day. I first met him at the age of 17, I am now 55. He’s ministered to us, prayed for us and gave his Love to us through thick and thin. He and Nell, his wife, were like a second pair of grandparents to us. We are missing them tremendously to this day, until we get to the other side. The first thing pastor Balius would say upon meeting them is, isn’t the Lord good? I’ll never forget it, because I use it too! For meeting new people in church or out of it. Yes Gerald Balius, is one man, I’ll never forget, through all of his councils, wisdom and prayer, because he was truly a man of God, and one of a kind. He just didn’t talk it, He walked it! Until we meet again in heaven, I will carry all he taught me, to influence people, for the glory of God, for good, and lead them to Jesus Christ. Blessings to him and Nell, for all they have done in our lives, we love you and hold you dear in our hearts until we meet again. I Love you always, your adopted son, Matt❤️❤️❤️

Pastor was not just our pastor he was a grandfather to our children, mentor to my husband, father to me and counselor to our entire family.  He was there with us thru good and bad times for many, many years.  His caring was evident in  all he did even to offering himself as a  substitute when a kidnapping occurred in our family.  That was the kind of man Gerald was and the love  he demonstrated .
At one point in time while building a new congregation he was head pastor, associate pastor and youth pastor (  our son was the entire youth group) and they spent every Tuesday evening  together having a tremendous impact on my sons growing into the man  he is today.  One of my best memories was how proud Pastor was of my daughter when he took all the kids fishing with her being  the only girl and the only one who would put the worms on the hook!  There are a  million  memories of a God given blessing in our lives and he will always live in our hearts now and forever until we meet again

I just need to say a couple of things regarding My AMAZING DADDY!  He was always my protector.  He taught me so many things.  My Mom & Dad have always been my Best Friends.  I was fortunate because my house was always the hang out place.  He was a Phenomenal Pastor to everyone.  He loved with all of his heart.  He wasn’t judgmental & accepted everyone for who they were.  I can’t wait for Jesus to come get all of the Christians waiting for him.  Every birthday he would take me to Shoney’s for a hot fudge Sunday.  We traveled so much & he was up for a good road trip.  I’m so Blessed.  I can’t wait to dance with my Father again❤️.   I love you the most & longest Daddy.  Thank you Daddy for loving, teaching & mentoring me my whole life.  You are my hero.

My Dad was the kind of man that children called him Paw Paw & loved  on him.  They brought smiles to his face every time.  Christopher Daniel Rodriguez now 19 loved his Paw Paw so much.  He’s my youngest

Praying that the Lord will comfort you and your family and give you all His peace. He will be missed by all! There are not enough words to say what a wonderful Pastor, man of God, and friend he was! He holds a special place in our hearts! I know that Heaven is rejoicing as he goes to his eternal home. I always remember how he used to talk about heaven and what a wonderful place it is. Well, he is experiencing it now and some day we will join him. Sending you ❤️❤️❤️ and a hug! I know how much you will miss him.

I want Athel, Lisa and the family to know that it was your mom and dad taking me to church with the family that led me to salvation.  Seeds were planted when I was a little girl going to church, but they 
 watered that seed.  My talks with them helped me to understand things I had questioned, and opened my eyes to the Kingdom of God.   I watched them live their lives in and away from the church and they were always the same.  Their influence in my life was God ordained and I will always be grateful for that.  I loved them dearly.
