Helen Judith Orenstein, 87, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in the Bronx, New York, to Harry and Rose Model, Helen was the only daughter among four children. She grew up with two older brothers, Murray and Kenny, and one younger brother, Larry.
Helen lived a vibrant and meaningful life, full of love, compassion, and adventure. She married the love of her life, Morton Orenstein, and together they raised two children, Brian and Jill. In the 1970s, the family moved to Satellite Beach, Florida, where Helen devoted herself to creating a warm and loving home filled with laughter, comfort, and a strong sense of family.
While Helen worked as a social worker for a time and later opened a small fashion boutique, her greatest joy came from being a homemaker and caregiver. She was the heart of her family—always there with support, wisdom, and kindness, often before it was even asked for.
Helen had a deep love for travel and adventure. She explored the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and countless places across the United States—often on cruises, which she especially enjoyed. At home, she cherished time by the pool at her condo, surrounded by friends, neighbors, and family. Her quick wit, humor, and warmth brought people together and created lasting memories.
Known for her sharp sense of humor, generous spirit, and natural ability to care for others, Helen left an enduring impression on all who knew her. She gave of herself selflessly and made everyone around her feel loved.
Helen is reunited in peace with her beloved husband Morton and her daughter Jill. She is survived by her son Brian; her grandchildren Matthew, Christian, and Hunter; and her great-granddaughter Scarlett. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held to honor the extraordinary woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of Helen and in support of the fight against dementia—a battle she faced with strength and grace in her final years.
She will be forever missed, deeply loved, and always remembered.
