Howard Clyde Mills was born on November 15, 1942, in Homestead, Florida, to his beloved mother, Ozelle. He lived a bold and adventurous life, filled with grit, love, and mischief. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila Mills, and by his children: Susie Feldman, Sondra Mills, and Theresa Mills. He was preceded in death by his son, Howie Mills, whom he held dearly in his heart.
He was the proud grandfather “Papa” of Eion, Braedon, Gabriella, Elianna, Jack, and Madie—each of whom brought him endless joy and purpose. His eyes lit up at the mention of his grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A skilled ironworker in Miami, Howard took immense pride in his trade. Though he built pools for many years, he always saw himself as an ironworker, with hands that could build anything and a spirit that never quit. If there’s a Mills, there’s a way.
Outside of work, Howard embraced adventure. He loved skydiving, diving in the Keys, snorkeling, spearfishing, and fishing from just about anywhere—a boat, a bridge, or right off the beach. He was a skilled archer, a fierce pool player, and found peace (and shenanigans) in the Everglades, where he loved to hunt and explore. He enjoyed exploring new places, road-tripping across the country with his wife, Sheila, creating memories and discovering new parts of the world together.
A celebration of Howard’s life will be held on April 30th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in Rockledge. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to dementia or stroke charities in honor of Howard’s memory.
Tough as nails, but soft as love—he will never be forgotten.
