Israel “Izzy” Dávila (73), devoted father, cherished brother, and loyal friend, passed valiantly from this life entering the loving embracing of his Lord and Savior on 12 December 2025. Courageous and mighty, he is in eternal peace alongside his Heavenly Father. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, on 1 October 1952, Izzy was the beloved son of Felicita (lovingly reunited with) and Heriberto (lovingly reunited with). He was raised in a benevolent family whose faith and love shaped the foundation of his life.
Izzy moved through the world with curiosity and purpose – creative, ingenious hands guided by a heart that sought truth, meaning and the divine. He loved writing, music, tinkering, and the open air, finding fulfillment in the quiet, intentional moments that make life feel whole. For those fortunate enough to know his winsome soul, he surprised most with his quick-witted humor.
He served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force, retiring from Patrick Air Force Base after 24 years marked by stealthy discipline, steadiness, and steadfast service. His path then led him to an encore career—twice over—at Kennedy Space Center, where he lent his technical skill set and integrity to NASA’s missions, work that carried both the weight of responsibility and the wonder of exploration. Colleagues knew him as secure, humble, and wholly dependable.
He is survived by his daughters, Jánisse Kristin Dávila‑Thompson (Kevin Thompson) and Brianne Elise Dávila, who were the brightest joys of his life. He cherished engaging them in thoughtful conversations about life, purpose, as well as the intellectual mysteries and depth of the human spirit. He was a loving Pai (grandfather) to Teagan Soleil Rose and Asher Israel Cruz, whose presence filled him with profound meaning, pride, and gratitude to God.
Izzy is also survived by his siblings — each held in his heart with immense adoration, deep respect, and vast love: Maria (Hector), Herbert, Carmen, Angel (Jenny), Rosa Julia (lovingly reunited with), Wanda (Oscar), Nelcy (Jose), Ann, Nelida (Richie), Edwin (lovingly reunited with)—as well as many other beloved family members. His exceptionally dear nieces and nephews—Maritza, Doreen, Mark, Dawn, Alex, Jason, Juliann, Adrian, Jessica, Danielle, Johnathan, David, and Rachel—will forever hold his memory close.
Stepping into the eternal promise of God’s presence, Israel leaves this world to rejoin family and friends who have gone before him, carrying the love of all who walked beside him. For those who had the honor, privilege, and blessing of knowing him, his legacy of faith, strength, and devotion endures — remaining a guiding light, forever in their hearts, living on as warm memories that echo in the souls he touched.
